A Thomas and Thomas bamboo salmon rod, 9', 3-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #9 line. Serial #4277 with a 1986 manufacture date. The rod weighs a hefty 9 ounces on my scale (the label sticker states it as 5 3/4 ounces). Very light use with a grip with almost no hand soiling. Unfortunately the nickel silver uplocking screwlock has some damage due to what appears to have been a set of pliers which has also created a little cosmetic damage to the walnut spacer. Otherwise the rod is in excellent condition and but for these, I would have called it near mint. Fast DF action. The flamed cane has a three up node pattern. The T&T varnish is excellent. The wraps are transparent with light brown edges and a band of black at the keeper and tip tops. The ferrules are wrapped black. Swiss style ferrules with a collar on the males and they retain 100% of their original oxidation. The stripper is a large carbide ring and the guides and tip tops are chrome. The cork grip is 7" long and shaped to a Western profile. The uplocking screwlock is nickel silver with "Thomas and Thomas, Makers" stamped on the slide. The seat works fine and I had no problem screwing a reel on or getting it off, though the slide and spacer have some denting due to the aforementioned pliers. The spacer is a varnished mortised walnut. The reel seat has a pull out fighting butt plug and a 3 1/4" long fighting butt that stores in a compartment at the bottom of the rod tube. The rod tube is aluminum with brass fittings and the T&T data sticker.
