For sale here, we have a rod from two well-respected makers; Homer Jennings and Tom Moran. A 7' 2/2 4-5wt bamboo rod. Serial no. 8453. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features mildly tempered cane with a matte oil finish. Pearl-colored wraps with burgundy at the signature, ferrules, and tip-tops. The male ferrules are tipped in rust and black. Bright guides and hardware. The tips are numbered for convenience and also have the serial number written on them. Ring hook keeper over a slightly swelled butt. Nickel silver hexagonal winding check. The reverse half wells grip measures 5 1/2" in length with moderate soiling. The taper of the cork is so slight that one might consider it a cigar-style grip. Nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a cork spacer. There is a shallow dent in the spacer from the seat ring. The Swiss-style nickel silver ferrules have a wonderful fit. The rod weighs in at a lean 2.95 oz. with a crisp and responsive medium-fast action best suited for a four-weight line unless fishing in close where a five-weight would do well. A great rod for exploring those extra tight creeks.
Includes original bag with stiffening dowel and a fine leather tube with "Tom Moran Rod Co." label. At around only 30 rods said to have been built, a chance at a rod from these two makers short-lived collaboration doesn't come up often. Don't miss out.
