For sale here is a Walt Carpenter Model 70 "Highlander Special". Made in Chester, NY. Seven foot rod for a four weight line. Two sections and two tips. Overall the rod is in excellent condition. Gently swelled butt, cigar grip, blued cap and ring over a deep mahogany (or red cedar?) spacer, transparent tan silk wraps with black edges, cinnamon silks applied at the ferrules and tip tops, and perfect fitting size 12/64 blued ferrules. The rod is nicely varnished (on his website, Walt describes these rods as having an "acrylic" finish - the earlier Highlander models were impregnated). Medium fast dry fly action. This rod casts extremely well. Comes with original bag and tube. The rod weighs 3 1/8 oz.
