For sale here is a mint condition Browntone bamboo rod made by Walt Carpenter. 7 1/2 feet 2/2 for a 5 weight. Wrapping still on the grip....unused condition. This was the first rod made by Mr. Carpenter upon leaving the Payne Rod Co. Provenance letter from Walt included with the sale. Photos reveal the finer details of the rod, including the unique cork grip and reel seat (coined the "Ellis grip"). Walt did not own a die stamp when he made this rod, so you will not find the usual stamping on the pocketed butt cap. Another one-of-a-kind item for the discerning collector.
