A beautiful Walt Carpenter Browntone model fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a DT5 line. Serial #12880. The rod weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. Mint, uncast condition with the paper and gum still on the grip. "French Walnut" and "Doval Taper" are inked on the grip by Walt, along with the rest of the rod data. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern. Superb varnish. Brown main wraps with black edges and a band of yellow and red at the keeper and male ferrules. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a medium cigar profile. The varnished cap and ring slide band seat includes a spectacular piece of smokey french walnut. "WS Carpenter, Maker" is stamped on the oxidized butt cap. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and an aluminum tube with brass fixtures as well as Walt's data sticker.
