A Walt Powell bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. It weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. This has been a one-owner rod who requested that Walt build this in semi-hollow construction, and the original owner's name is inked on the butt along Walt's signature. "S.#2-291" is inked above the male ferrule on both tips and just below the female on the butt. Medium-fast full flexing action. The rod is in excellent used condition with some soiling to the grip, a few small reel foot impressions on the spacer, but no other meaningful wear that I could find. Two opposed node pattern with a matte finish to the cane. Wrapped red throughout, including the intermediates. Two dark ceramic strippers and chrome guides and tip tops. Bright swiss-style ferrules. The grip is 6" log and shaped to a medium blunt cigar. The reel seat is a bright cap and ring over what looks a bit like a stabilized cedar spacer. The rod packs into a green cloth bag and a black frost coated aluminum tube with clear anodized aluminum fittings.
