A nice Leonard Tournament Model 50 1/2 bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #5 line. Light wheatstraw cane done in a three up node pattern construction. Medium full flexing action. Refinished condition. 4.7 ounces. The rod appears to have been very lightly used after the refinish. Re-wound in olive silk with a band of red and black at the keeper and male ferrules. The patent date has been buffed out on the female ferrule. Small stripping guide and small heavy wire reverse twist snake guides. The grip is original and styled to a 5" long medium cigar. The hook keeper is one flat right. The reel seat is a square thread downlocking screw lock with a nickel silver pocket cap and a butternut insert. The die stamp in the cartouche reads "The Leonard Rod, HL Leonard Rod Co, Makers" and under the cartouche "Reg US Pat Off". "Tournament" is stamped on the pocket. Original bag with the preserved hang tag. Original rod tube with a brass collar and top.
