A very nice Bob Summer Midge model fly rod, 6'4", 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #3 or #4 line. Serial #121583. Weighs 2.3 ounces. Medium action rod. Near mint condition. Flamed cane in the Young style and the varnish is superb. Light brown wraps with a carbide stripper. Oxidized step ferrules, which are nice and clean with no brassing to the oxidation. The grip is 5 3/4" long in a blunt cigar shape. The rod shaft is lettered "R.W. Summers Co, 6'4" Midge", and "#3 to 4 Line". The bottom of the grip is checked by several rings of varnished walnut and the seat is a cork slide band with two opposed rings of black anodized aluminum. The bottom of the rod is composed of sebera rings of turned and varnished walnut. The rod packs into a green cloth bag with a permanently attached ferrule plug of aluminum with a brass top and collar of Bob's design, and he's an excellent machinist. "RW Summers Rod Co Co, Traverse City, MI, USA" is stamped in a circle on the top.
