A Darryl Whitehead bamboo fly rod, 6'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, built for what feels to me like a #5. Serial #26 with a manufacture date of 1990. Semi full flexing but fairly stiff action. 4.1 ounces. Lawn cast only condition. The cane is a light wheatstraw color done in a spiral node pattern. The main winds are transparent light yellow with cinnamon edges and extra edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops. The ferrule wraps are dark brown. Flawless varnish. The stripping guide is a #8 SRMC carbide with black snake guides. Swiss style ferrules are polished and engraved by Paolo Barbetti. The female ferrule also has a ferrule plug. The grip is a long 6 1/2" western style composed of 1/4" corks. The downlocking screw lock seat is ornately engraved nickel silver. The bottom of the pocket cap is engraved "D Whitehead, Maker, #26, 1990". A yellow cloth bag and a Holland leather tube complete the package.
