A Darryl Whitehead fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5 or #6 line. #25. 4.7 ounces, made in 1990. Mint unused condition. Fast DF action. Blonde colored oven tempered cane in a spiral node pattern. Tips are mirrored. Superior quality varnish. The wraps are light apricot main with brown edging and brown at the ferrules. The stripping guide is carbide and the snakes are early snake brand. The swiss ferrules are fully engraved by Paolo Barbetti as well as the reel seat hardware. The ferrules are polished bright and fit as new. All rod sections are straight. The grip is 7" log and shaped to a light "western" profile and consists of 1/4" corks. No sign of any hand soiling. The reel seat is a downlocking screwlock of nickel silver and engraved. The seat spacer is white. The cap on the bottom is engraved with "D. Whitehead, Maker, #25, 1990". The rod is fitted with an artfully crafted ferrule plug and a yellow poplin bag (the bag has a long tear at the top) and a Holland sport leather rod tube.
