For sale here is an extremely scarceleft-hand wind Dingley 3 1/2" Perfect style fly reel, retailed by gunmaker Westley Richards when they were located at 178 Bond Street in London. The London stamped reels are far more scarce than the typical Birmingham stamped reels.This reel is in excellent original condition and features a strong dual pawl check system from the 1930's. The tension regulator works perfectly. The bronze line guide is in fine condition. The gear teeth and pawls are still very sharp. The original, un-filed and full length smooth brass reel foot with two original screws is included with the sale, but a prior owner had a new smooth brass reel foot fabricated by Bill Archuleta so that the reel is now able to fit on contemporary rods. Both reel feet are included. The crazed xylonite handle spins freely. It has a very nice and original nickel silver spool screw and washer. The reel has no excessive end play. No cracks/chips or prior repairs. The majority of the original leaded finish remains. The reel is stamped "3" in multiple places as well D3 near the LHW configured check mechanism.Included with this sale is a Hardy Bros. selvyt reel bag in good condition that houses the reel perfectly. A rare find indeed!
