A nice EC Powell Maslan period bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #6 line. Weighs 4.3 ounces on my scale. Medium fast, full flexing action and the rod is nice and straight. The patent date is inked on the shaft. Excellent overall condition. One tip top has been wrapped with a slightly darker color, and someone has lightly scratched some numbers into the bottom of the butt cap, but otherwise the rod is in superb condition for its age. Medium wheatstraw colored cane built in a two-opposed node pattern. Light caramel brown wraps throughout including the full intermediates. The keeper wrap has the cream and black matched tipping and the keeper is a small snake typical of the Maslan period. The bright 14/64 ferrules seat properly. The grip is in excellent condition with the Powell-style profile. The seat is an aluminum uplocking screwlock over a bakelite insert, and the Powell stamp is on the seat's threaded barrel. The rod packs into a brown cloth bag and aluminum brass topped tube that looks original to my eye. A nice example of this Powell model/taper.
