An HL Leonard model 38L bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #3 line. Serial #1532 (1972 manufacture date). The rod weighs 2.6 ounces on my scale. Mint condition, pin straight as straight from the Leonard shop. The action is on the slowish side but delicate due to the fine tips. The original owner's name is inked on the rod. Blonde cane done in a three up node pattern. 326 red wraps with an extra band of green and red at the keeper and male ferrules. The step ferrules fit well and are polished bright. The slimmish cigar grip is 6" long. Cap and ring seat. The reel seat spacer is a varnished flatted butternut. The butt cap bears the stamp "HLL / HL Leonard Rod Co / Makers". The rod packs into a yellow poplin bag and aluminum tube with brass fittings. It's very rare to find any 50+ year old rod in mint condition. Very nice.
