A HL Leonard bamboo fly rod, model 50-5 or 50-6, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #5 or #6 line. This is a prefire rod with no serial number. Medium fast action. Full original condition, used modestly, with some minor wear to the inner part of the snake guides. Wheatstraw cane done in a three up node pattern. High arch paddlefoot snake guides. The main wraps are light yellow-tan with maroon edges at the keeper and male ferrules. No stamp on the butt female. The ferrule fits are excellent and the rod is straight. The grip is 5" long and shaped to a medium cigar profile. The grip has been cleaned leaving it slightly ridged. The reel seat is an aluminum square thread downlock with a butternut spacer and a nickel silver pocket cap. The stamp reads "The Leonard Rod, HL Leonard Rod Co, Makers" in a cartouche and underneath "Reg Us Pat Off". Leonard 50's in this kind of good condition are becoming increasingly rare. Original gray poplin bag and original aluminum and brass tube.
