For sale here is a HL Leonard Model 39 Hunt Tournament bamboo rod -- 7 1/2 feet, 2/2 for a 6wt line. Near mint condition! One tip was lawn cast as the slight amount of bluing loss on the tip top would suggest and the fact that the wrapping is removed from that male ferrule, while the other male is still wrapped. This rod was built in 1982 after the end of Maxwell's tenure at the Leonard Rod Co. The rod was custom ordered and then gifted in 1985 and so marked on the rod along with the owner's name. Serial #8294. All sections are full length and straight. This Tournament model was only made upon request and was last presented in the 1984 catalog for a price of $1075. Cigar grip, highly figured walnut spacer with bright up-locking reel seat complete with acorn cap, richly flamed cane, Blood red silks with full intermediates. Includes original tan bag with stiffener and original aluminum tube with brass fittings. The paper wrapping still remains on the grip with all original hand-written notations. The rod weighs 4 3/8 oz.
This rod is truly a remarkable piece of Leonard Rod Co. history.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
