A nice Jim Reams bamboo fly rod, 8'3", 2-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5 line. Hollow-built construction. Serial number "151-7-05HB" lettered on the shaft, and one flat right "James L Reams, Maker". The rod weighs 3.80 oz and is on the faster side of medium fast with a pleasing, authoritative action. Excellent plus, lightly used condition. Lightly tempered cane with an almost pumpkin-tone color, and the nodes are done in a two-opposed pattern. Transparent honey wraps with oxblood tipping. Chestnut and oxblood tipping at the winding check and ferrules. Blued hardware throughout. Swiss-style ferrules. Curvy full-wells grip 6 1/4" in length with only the lightest bit of soiling. Oxidized nickel silver up-locking reel seat over a beautiful mortised wood spacer, with some brassing to the rear cork check, slide ring, and the cap at the very bottom of the spacer. The rod is straight and the ferrule fits are good. Includes original bag and tube with label.
