A nice Jim Schaaf "Browntone" model fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #4 line. Serial #75-6-87. 3.6 ounces. Mint or near mint condition. Full flexing but strong action, a rare rod from a high quality maker. Moderately dark flame-treated cane. According to the owner, this was the last hand-planed rod that Jim made before he acquired the Dickerson beveler. Top shelf varnish. The main wraps are a light copper with brown edges throughout. Agate stripper and black snake guides. The step ferrules are polished bright, the fits are perfect, and the rod is nice and straight. The grip is 5" long in a deeply sculpted half wells profile. The cork reel seat is flatted with a nickel silver cap and ring. The cap is stamped "James Schaaf, Maker". The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a brushed aluminum tube with brass fittings and Jim's data sticker on the tube.
