For sale here is a very scarce Lyle Dickerson Model 7613 Hollow bamboo rod. 7 1/2 feet, two piece rod with two tips, for a DT4 or WF5 line. Unoriginal bag and tube. There are only four hollow Dickerson rods known to exist. Letter of provenance from Jim Schaaf states that the blanks were given to him by Glenn Dickerson, who certified that they were made by Lyle Dickerson, his father. Jim was given the rod blanks in exchange for completing several Dickerson rods for Dickerson family members. Jim elected to keep these unfinished rods as they were but eventually gifted or sold his remaining Dickersons, including this one just prior to his passing. Jim made the ferrules from the Dickerson rod shop equipment. Because Jim was unable to do fine finish work in his last two years, this rod was wrapped and varnished by R.D. Taylor who does superb work as you all know. The rod appears to be in unfished condition. Comes with replacement bag and tube.
This fine rod and other rods and fishing tackle catalogs for sale here at Vintage Fly Tackle come from the collection of Dr. Gerald Stein, co-author with Jim Schaaf of the wonderful book, "Dickerson: The Man and His Rods".
