A Marc Aroner Hunt Pattern bamboo fly rod, 6', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #3 line. Mint condition. 2.7 ounces. This rod is mint, and appears to have never even been lawn cast. I built this rod around 1995. It has a fast DF action for super tight accurate loops on small streams. Flamed cane with hand-pressed three up nodes. The wraps are May Rose which looks almost like a garnet color against the flamed cane, and have orange edges and an extra band of maroon at the keeper. The rod utilizes a circle guide for a stripper and black high speed steel high arch snake guides. The oxidized ferrules are semi truncated swiss design with a collar and slant knurl. The tips are mirrored and ultra fine (about .049" over varnish) to add some delicacy. I used to charge extra to build these rods because of the difficulty of producing such fine tips and the fact that the tiny tip tops are irreplaceable. The rod shaft varnish is smooth as glass and dust-free. Brass ferrule plugs for the ferrules. The slim cigar cork grip is 4 1/2" long. The reel seat is a cap and ring with the cap shortened to save a little weight. The mortised burl walnut seat is varnished to the same glasslike finish as the cane. The rod packs into a pale green cloth bag and the polished aluminum tube has a brass collar, top, and bottom.
