A Charles Daly "Para Taper" bamboo fly rod, 7'10", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for #5. Serial #270. The rod weighs 4.5 ounces on my scale. I believe this rod was made by Edwards for Charles Daly, the sporting goods retailer in Philadelphia. While I confess that I don’t know a great deal about these models, I did find the taper for this rod quite attractive in the hand. Medium to medium-fast action. The rod has an Edwards-style seat and has been refinished, so there are ghost where prior guides have been repositioned. Light flamed cane in a light caramel color with lighter nodes. Brown wraps with no edge and two carbide strippers and black stainless snakes. The butt has a slight swell. The step ferrules are polished bright. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a cigar profile. It has been cleaned, leaving it slightly ridged with a hidden pocket cap. Uplocking aluminum screw lock. The rod packs into a tan bag and aluminum tube.
