An Edwards Quadrate model 54 fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #7 or #8. Fast DF action. The rod weighs 5 3/4 ounces on my scale. Excellent original condition for its age with a hint of bag imprint on the tips. Some varnish loss around the base of the snake guides due to the guides lifting a bit likely on a heavy fish. Medium flamed cane with brown main wraps with yellow edges. 3x3 yellow and brown signature wraps and yellow windaways on all guides. Agate stripper and dark HSS snake guides the rest of the way. The step ferrules are oxidized and squared to the rod. "Edwards Quadrate" and "#54" are lettered on the rod in white ink. The grip is 5 3/4" long turned to a western profile with a hidden pocket cap. The large black tenite is squared to the grip and the rod. The reel seat is a walnut insert with an uplocking black plastic screwlock with an aluminum nut. The rod packs into a light tan color bag and an aluminum tube with the Edwards data sticker 99% intact, and everything packs into a padded leather tube. A fine example of this Edwards model.
