For sale here is a 8'6 "Orvis Impregnated" - "Pat-Pend" bamboo rod, known as a Bakelite rod in the Orvis rod database, and a predecessor to their later Battenkill model (bakelite was the chemical resin used to impregnate the cane). This impregnation process resulted in a rich dark tone that has a cult following among Orvis collectors. The rod weighs 5 1/8 oz. and the ferrules are size 11/64 and 17/64. I like it with a DT6 for close in work but it would be great with a 7wt line as well for distance casting. Three sections with two tips, all straight and full-length. Medium fast action. Serial number 5786 made in 1948 by George Reid. Comes with brown rod bag and aluminum tube (both could be replacements). The rod itself is in near mint condition and appears to be all original.
