A nice Otto Zwarg 400 Laurentian model salmon reel in 2/0 size. RHW. 14.8 oz in weight. Serial #L68, indicating a Florida-era model. Zwarg, of course, had been the foreman at the Edward Vom Hofe shop for many years before making reels under his own name and this reel bears all of the fine features developed there. The reel is in excellent overall condition with clean hard rubber sideplates and very little wear on the nickel silver rims. The foot has some tiny mounting marks but is in superb shape. There are no major scratches, dings, or other significant issues anywhere. The reel has a line loaded on it but has been treated very well. The drag increases nicely throughout the seven stop range (the red lacquer is bright on about half of the indicator dots). It packs in a suede zipper pouch. I've always admired Zwargs as a worthy successor to the Vom Hofe tradition and which are pleasing both to collect and fish.
