A very nice Otto Zwarg Saguenay Model 300 salmon fly reel in 2/0 size. RHW. 3 3/8" diameter with a 1 3/8" spool width and weighing approximately 9.5 ounces. Single action. Serial number C445, one of the earliest reels made after the move to St. Petersburg in 1948. Excellent overall condition free of any major defects. The frame is in great shape, as are the foot and pillars, the latter of which has a slight taper into the edge of the foot, though it is neatly done. The black sideplates are excellent as well, the screws show virtually no sign of having been touched, the drag adjuster is smooth, and the red dots are all nice and intact. The drag is smooth and adjusts nicely throughout the range. The original owner, "SG Seccombe" and the date "1948" are professionally engraved into one sideplate, and corresponding initials are to be found on the handsome leather reel case as well, indicating that it is original. A very fine example of this model.
