A nice EF Payne model 222 salmon rod, 11', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels like a #8 line. The rod has had a nice refinish. Medium action. 13.3 ounces on my scale. Excellent varnish with brown wraps with yellow edges and purple bands at the keeper and male ferrule. One tip has a short clear wrap. #12 SRMC stripper and black snake guides. Oxidized step ferrules which fit snugly. The rod is very straight. The front grip is 8 1/4" long and shaped to a large cigar. The aluminum downlocking screwlock seat is stamped "Payne" along with the "Reg US Pat Off". The spacer is Spanish cedar. The lower grip has 5" of cork and 2" of aluminum that ends in a red rubber button. The aluminum has the "Sold by Abercrombie and Fitch, NY" stamp. The rod packs into a canvas overbag with a full size Payne rod tube holding the mid and tips. No hang tag.
