An EF Payne bamboo fly rod, 9'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #8 or #9 line. 6.7 ounces. A 1950's rod with a perfection stripper and "Sold by Abercrombie and Fitch" die stamp. Fast action rod. Near mint condition having seen little use. Medium flame cane with brown wraps with purple edges on all an extra yellow, purple, at the keeper and male ferrule. Perfection stripper and bronze snakes with minimal wear. The varnish is excellent with no chips and just a few minor rubs. The rod is pin straight and the ferrule fits are tight. The ferrule oxidation is 99% intact. The grip is 6 1/2" long and shaped to a western profile, having never been sanded or cleaned. The aluminum downlock seat has "Payne" in a cartouche and the "Reg US Pat Off" stamp. The nickel silver pocket cap has the "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch, New York" stamp. Spanish cedar spacer. The rod comes with a non-original fighting butt (not pictured) and packs into the original bag with hang tag and the original tube.
