For sale here is a very scarce E.F. Payne "Canadian Canoe" bamboo rod -- 8 1/2 feet with three sections and two tips. The rod is in excellent+ original condition. All sections are full length and straight. This model was one of the three special rods Payne began offering in the 1950's, along with the Bass Bug Rod and the Streamer Rod. Each is very rarely seen!
The rod features moderately tempered cane with chestnut brown silks and black tipping. Black. gold, and purple tipping at the winding check and male ferrules. Ring hook keeper. Oxidized hardware. The western-style grip measures 6 1/2" in length. Aluminum up-locking reel seat over a gorgeous Spanish cedar spacer. The reel seat hardware bears the “Payne” trademark stamp. The rod comes with a 6" replacement fighting butt. The ferrule fit is excellent. Ferrule plugs included. The rod weighs 5 3/4 oz. without the extension and 8 1/2 oz with it. Powerful medium fast action. Includes the original bag with hang tag intact, the original labeled tube, and a canvas tube cover with a dedicated sleeve for the fighting butt.
