A nice EF Payne fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2 tips, built for what feels like a #5 line. 4.4 ounces. Nice medium-fast DF action. Likely a 103 model. Used but excellent original condition, circa 1950's with the "sold by Abercrombie and Fitch, New York" roller stamp. The varnish is in very good original condition with a few very minor scratches from hooks. Faint beginnings of casting cracks at the ferrule wraps. The oxidation on the ferrules is 98% original. The ferrule fits are excellent. Wrapped brown with yellow edges and a band of yellow and purple at the keeper and male ferrules. Perfection stripper with high-arch perfection snake guides. 6" western style grip in all original uncleaned condition. The reel seat is an uplocking aluminum screwlock with the stamp "Payne" in cartouche and "Reg US Pat Off" as well as the A&F stamp on the reverse. Spanish cedar spacer. All original Paynes have become so hard to find these days. All original bag and tube but no hang tag. Includes the original ferrule plug.
