For sale here is a E.F. Payne 9 1/2′ 3pc light salmon rod for a #7 line, sold by Abercrombie and Fitch. This rod has two mids and two tips, all original and full-length with the accompanying (original) five-section rod bag. This rod has an uplocking screw-lock reel seat with Payne’s standard Spanish cedar spacer. Wraps are brown with purple tips. Agate stripping guide. Comes with the original Payne rod tube and red label (which is in pristine condition) and the original tan canvas rod tube cover with fighting butt side compartment. Not uncommon with Paynes of this era, the varnish has a few bag marks and the butt and mids are missing their ferrule plugs. Also missing is the plug for the bottom of the reel seat when the fighting butt is not in use. Not a big issue unless you intend to shove it in the mud. The last snake guide on the butt section also needs to be re-wrapped (original guide included with the sale). While not the most collectible rod due to these issues, this would make a great fishing rod from one of the most revered makers in bamboo rod-making history.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
