A rare RL Winston bamboo fly rod, 6', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #3. A Montana era rod with serial number #2565 inked on the butt along with the original owner's name. The rod weighs 3.3 ounces on my scale (the blank weight is inked on the rod at 2.25 ounces). Excellent, very lightly used condition bordering on near mint. The rod has some very minor hand soiling, and the reel seat hardware could use a polish, but the rod is very clean otherwise. It couldn't have been fished much. Medium, full flexing action. Medium wheatstraw cane done in a three up node pattern. The rod is wrapped in a light amber, with dark red tipping at the keeper, signature wraps, ferrules, and tip tops. The ferrules sport the typical Winston overwrap. Carbide stripper and light guides the rest of the way culminating in chrome tip tops. 6" grip shaped to a medium blunt cigar with a very slight flare at the heel. Downlocking screwlock hardware over a mortised and stabilized striped wood spacer. The butt cap has the Winston stamp on the bottom. The rod packs into a khaki bag and dark aluminum tube with brass fittings, with the Winston sticker affixed to the outside. It's very rare to find a Montana-era Winston in this size and condition!
