An RL Winston bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels like a #5. San Francisco era rod. The rod weighs 2.9 ounces on my scale (the blank has it listed at an even 3). Medium full flexing action. The script on the butt notes the maker, length, weight, serial number (#1185), and the Winston patent number. Good used condition with some light hand soiling to the grip, a few small scrapes to the varnish on the butt section, and some overall light cosmetic signs of use. One tip has a right handed set, while the other is reasonably straight. Medium colored cane done in a three up node pattern. Wrapped in putty with maroon tipping at the keeper, signature wraps, and ferrules, the latter of which has the typical Winston overwrap. Keeper, carbide stripper, with light bronze guides and chrome tip tops. The grip has a wells profile whose bottom transitions to an all cork reel seat. Conical front cork check with two trim marks put in it. The slide band seat is aluminum with a composite face to the butt cap to hold it in place. The rod packs into a bright red cloth bag and original aluminum tube with the San Francisco era sticker affixed which is 90% intact.
