A nice RL Winston bamboo fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #3 line. Serial number 3687, a Brackett era rod. Listed on the rod shaft as 2 3/4 ounces but my scale has it closer to 3.7. Mint condition. Medium full flexing action. The bamboo is oven tempered to a golden wheat straw color and is done in a three up node pattern. The varnish is stupendous, as good as the best of any I have seen. The wraps are tan with cinnamon edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops. Red agate stripper and bronze snake guides. All the sections are arrow straight and the ferrule fits are good. The grip is large for a 7' rod at 7" long and has a thumb rest carved into the full wells profile. Hidden pocket cap in the heel of the grip. The reel seat is a nickel silver uplocking screw lock with the Winston logo printed on the bottom cap. The rod packs in a white linen bag with the Winston logo stitched on the flat and a brown crackle painted aluminum tube with gold anodized hardware. The Winston sticker is nicely affixed to the tube as well.
