An excellent RL Winston fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, built during the San Francisco era. Serial #7545, which I believe should put the manufacture date in the mid 1950's. This was one of their light trout models and is listed at 3 1/4 ounces (though my scale has it at 3 ounces). The patent number and owner's name are inked on the rod. This feels like a nice medium-fast action 5 weight to me. Very lightly used condition with no ascertainable soiling to the grip. I think I can see a tiny bit of cracking at the ferrule wrap so that keeps out of the mint category, though it is awfully close. Three up node pattern. Light golden brown main wraps with red edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops. The keeper ring is one flat right. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped into a half-wells. The reel seat is mortised cork with a pocket cap and ring of polished aluminum. Black delrin bottom camp with a screw to hold it on. The rod is furnished with stainless snake guides and a chromed stripping guide. It's packed in a red cloth bag with the Winston logo and a leather pull tab. The Cal-Air tube is a brass collar on aluminum with an aluminum top and retains about 80% of the original Winston decal. The rod is perfectly straight and a ferrule fits are good.
