A nice RL Winston fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #3 line. Serial #3780, a rod from the latter part of the Brackett era at Winston. Listed as 2 1/2 ounces but clocks in at 3.2 ounces on my scale. Medium full flexing action. I cannot find any evidence of this rod having been used. Absolutely mint and it is straight as a pin. Superb varnish finish with a three up node pattern construction and wheat straw color cane. The wraps are tan with black edges at the keeper, ferrule, and tip-tops. Banded agate stripper and bronze snake guides. The keeper is one flat right. The grip is a large 6 1/2" long in a western or fishtail shape without much tail to the fish, just a slight swell. The reel seat is a mortised downlocking screw lock of nickel silver with a detached slide and nut and a pocket cap. The mortised wood spacer appears to me to be zebra wood. The end cap is stamped "RL Winston Rod Co" in a circular cartouche. The rod is packed in an eggshell color cloth bag with the Winston logo embroidered on the flap. The rod tube is brown crackle painted with a gold anodized aluminum top and collar. The RL Winston logo sticker is affixed to the tube.
