For sale here is a SF-era Winston Rod Co. bamboo rod - 8' 2/1 for a DT5. Serial #8329 made in 1959 by Doug Merrick and Gary Howells. 3 3/4 oz. scripted weight; actual weight is 3 5/8 oz. The rod is in excellent restored condition. Glenn Brackett did the restoration in 2014 retaining all of the original components and script. The rod is full length and straight. Straw colored cane with champagne colored wraps and burgundy tipping at the winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-top. Ring hook-keeper. Lovely sculpted bakelite winding check. Full wells grip is soiled but is free of ridging or hook gouges. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with classic bakelite spacer/body. The ferrules are size 13/64, the fit is nice and tight as it should be. The action is medium-fast, a true 5 weight and capable of everything from midges to small streamers. Comes with its original red Winston bag with label and leather tabs and a replacement tube. A wonderful San-Francisco era Winston at a great price.
