For sale here is a classic SF-era R.L. Winston 9' 4 7/8 oz. 2/2 bamboo fly rod. Serial no. 6010. The rod is in excellent condition with a few exceptions: the second tip was built at a later date, the second tip appears to have been built from an already existing tip. Old water marks can be seen where the original guides once were. The ferrule does not match but is the correct size and though the wraps were done with considerable skill the color is off a bit. As such, the rod is priced as a one tip rod. Curiously, the second tip's taper matches the original very well. Also, the butt section appears to have been re-wrapped at the same time as the second tip. There are also two delamination repair wraps between the first and second guide on the butt section.
The rod features rich golden silks. Burgundy tipping at the winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-tops. Bright guides. Ring hook-keeper. The script remains bold and free of defects. Handsome bakelite winding check, full wells grip does show some wear but is in overall great shape. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with the classic bakelite spacer and butt cap. The actual weight on our digital scales is 4.95 oz. The ferrules are size 15/64, the fit is very nice. The action is on the medium side of medium-fast and best with a 6wt line. The rod includes a fine replacement bag with leather tab and replacement aluminum tube.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
