For sale here is a San Francisco era Winston bamboo fly rod - 9'3" 5 1/2 oz. 2/1. Serial no. 8252. Made by Doug Merrick and Gary Howells in 1958. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length. Pumpkin-toned cane. The rod features beige wraps with burgundy tipping at the winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-top. Bright guides. Bronzed ring hook keeper. Handsome, sculpted bakelite winding check. The full wells grip is soiled as one would expect but free of any major defect. There is very light ridging as well. Down-locking, bright aluminum reel seat with a classic Winston bakelite spacer. The ferrules are size 16/64, the fit is perfect. The rod weighs 5 3/8 oz. on our digital scale. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast. Includes original bag with label and tube with label 85% remaining. Don't miss out on this fine SF Winston!

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
