A Thomas and Thomas "Salmon XL" bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #8 line. Serial #3186. The rod weighs 6.1 ounces. Impregnated model. The rod has seen light use with one tip in lawn cast condition. The other tip may have been used a couple of times judging by the minor wear to the snake guides and needing a minor straighten. The action is medium to medium-fast. The tips are mirrored but the guides are on different flats. The cane is oven tempered with slightly darker nodes done in a three up pattern. The rod utilizes 2 carbide strippers, black snake guides, and carbide tip tops. The main wraps are light yellow with light brown edges, dark brown at the ferrules, and black edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip tops. Standard oxidized T&T swiss style ferrules with a collar on the males. The grip is 7" long and turned to a western profile with a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking screwlock. The screwlock is all aluminum with the "Thomas and Thomas, Makers" die stamp. There is a nickel silver ferrule for the all-cork 5" long fighting butt that stores in its own compartment with a plaid cloth bag and brass collar and cap for the bottom. The rod packs in a tan cloth bag with a stiffener and a prior owner's name inked on the bag. The rod tube is aluminum with a brass collar and top with a Moisie River sticker on it (good salmon fishing mojo there!).
