Thomas and Thomas Montana Bamboo Fly Rod 7'6" 3/2 #6

1191

A Thomas and Thomas Montana model fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Serial #3860. 5.6 ounces on my scale (though the tube label lists the weight as 3 3/4 ounces). Lightly used and well-cared-for condition with some minor grip soiling. The rod action is a bit on the faster side of medium. Light chestnut color cane in a three up node pattern. The original owner's name is inked on the rod. The varnish, as with all T&T's, is among the best you will find. Wrapped in transparent light tan with light brown edges. Dark brown at the ferrules with a band of black at the keeper, male ferrules, and tip-tops. Large swiss ferrules with a collar on the male. The ferrules and front cork check are oxidized, and the ferrules retain 98% of their original oxidation while the cork check only 40%. Carbide stripper and black snake guides. The grip is 5 3/4" long styled in a western profile with a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking screwlock. The screwlock is all nickel silver with the "Thomas and Thomas, Makers" roller die stamp. The spacer is an excellent mortised, varnished walnut. The rod bag is tan cloth with a stiffener and a pull tab. The rod tube is brushed aluminum with a brass bottom, collar, and top, and has the T&T data sticker.
