This is a rareÌâ T&T Montana modelÌâ indeed, one that checks in at 7' for a #4 line (2-piece, 2-tip). Serial # 2467. As far as I have been able to determine this may be the only small Montana model that T&T produced. Nice full-flexing medium action but not too soft. An early rod, with both Tom Maxwell and Tom Dorsey's handcraft evident (I may have also been there when this rod was made). "Thomas and Thomas 7' /#4 Montana" neatly lettered in Tom Maxwell's hand. Owner's name on rod as well.
Lovely varnish, with the wraps done in light tan with brown accents at the keeper and ferrules. Large swell. Blunt cigar grip which is styled with the largest portion in the first third of the grip and which measures 10 corks, or 5" overall. Rear cork check. Cap and ring seat with varnish walnut spacer. No logo stamp on hardware. Typical T&T swiss ferrules with a collar on the male slide. The hardware is oxidized.
This rod has seen use: there is some oxidation brassing on the ferrules and cap and ring. The varnish is still excellent however. The sections are good and straight and the ferrules fit well. Comes with a Khaki colored rod bag with a stiffener. Aluminum tube with brass collar and top.
