A nice RL Winston "Tom Morgan Favorite" IM6 graphite fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 1-tip, and built for a #4 line. This model, first offered in 1989, has become a classic and is still offered today by Winston. This particular rod is serial number "79" and was built in 1989, the first year the model was offered, which was also Winston's 60th anniversary. Tom would leave Winston just two years later. The rod is in excellent lightly used condition with just a bit of hand soiling to the grip. IM6 graphite blank. The rod sports a keeper and the Winston 60th anniversary logo is found halfway between the keeper and the stripping guides. Chrome snake guides and tip top. The rod is wrapped in emerald green throughout. Spigot ferrule design. Half wells grip with a front and rear cork check. The reel seat is a bright cap and ring over a stabilized zebra wood spacer. The rod packs into a brown cloth bag and a black aluminum tube with brass fittings and the Winston 60th Anniversary sticker affixed to the outside. A rare early example of this beloved model.
