For sale here is a stunning Walt Carpenter Browntone Model bamboo fly rod. 7'3" with two sections and two tips for a 4 weight line. Serial no. 80673 - made in 1980. Excellent plus condition. The rod features gorgeous dark flamed/tempered cane with chestnut wraps and black tipping. The winding check and male ferrules have black, chestnut, black tipping. Oxidized guides. Clear agate stripping guide. The script remains as clean and bold as the day is was written. Handsome swelled butt. Ring hook keeper. Sculpted, blued nickel silver winding check. Unique Carpenter styled grip with moderate soiling. Handsome oxidized nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a cork spacer. The main grip and the cork spacer are separated by a 1/8" ring of walnut. There is also walnut extending 1/2" up from the butt cap. This produces a unique and elegant look. The oxidized ferrules are size 12/64 and the fit is perfect. The rod weighs 3.45 oz. The action is quite swift on the faster side of medium-fast thanks in part to the swelled butt. A terrific stick for small to medium sized streams that excels with a dry fly. Includes original bag and labeled tube.
