For sale here is a Wright & McGill Granger - Model 8642 "Stream and Lake" 8'6" 5wt 3/2 bamboo rod. These rods were made in 1947-1948, its predecessor being the Granger Champion. The rod is in excellent original condition. There is some light wear to the varnish (minor chips and scratches) throughout. Though, this is to be expected from a 70-year-old rod. All sections are full length with a minor set in one of the tips. The rod features darkly tempered cane with red wraps. Blued guides with bronzed tip-tops. The script remains clean and bold. Classic, WMG gradually swelled butt. Aluminum winding check with a bronzed look due to the varnish. The original Western-style grip remains uncleaned with a few holes in the bottom rim from use as a hook keeper. The patented nickel silver up-locking reel seat is void of dents or scratches and works smoothly as it should. The rod weighs 5.05 oz. The ferrule sizes are 17/64 and 11/64, the fit is great. The rod has a wonderful medium-fast action, a bit faster than most W&M/Granger rods of this length. A nice balance of power and finesse make this a great tool for lakes or larger rivers. Includes replacement bag and no tube. This rod needs to go fishing again!
