This Aroner Hunt Pattern is very early example of my work, dating to the mid 1980's. It differs from my later rods by the following two details: there is a wooden lip on the reel seat where it meets the rear of the grip and the wraps are a slightly darker shade of red then the current "may rose" color that I would later settle on (with edges that are also slightly darker). This rod boasts a medium cigar grip and has a mortised walnut spacer with a cap and ring reel seat. Per all of my early work there is no die stamp on the cap. Truncated swiss ferrules are polished as well as the reel seat hardware. A keeper is mounted on the wrap flat. This rod has a dry-fly action and is straight and unfished. No ferrule plugs (I didn't make them then!). Brushed aluminum tube with brass fittings. It was a pleasure to see this rod again - there are few of this vintage that are in such exquisite mint condition!
