An excellent Aroner Hunt Pattern Special fly rod, 7' 3-piece, 2-tip rod built for a #5 line. DF action. Mintish rod with no soiling to the grip and microscopic brassing inside the guides is consistent with having been lawn casted only. Oxidized swiss ferrules with collar and slant knurl. Ferrule plugs are the older style and date the rod to about 2000. Wrapped green olive with olive signatures and olive brown intermediates. Perfection stripper (much rarer these days than an agate) with high arch high-speed steel snake guides. 10 cork slim cigar grip. All nickel silver reel seat. This seat is a reproduction of the all-metal seats found on the early Payne and Leonard rods though the nickel silver tube has been turned down precisely and more thinly to save weight. "Aroner, Maker" is stamped at the bottom and a pocket cap is soldered onto the reverse side. A slide ring is mounted and target inscribed on the bottom. The seat was then mounted over a hard maple wood blank (we currently charge $150 extra for this seat as an additional option). 3 up node pattern construction and flame-treated cane. Flawless spar varnish. Brass top, collar, and polished aluminum tube with "Aroner, Maker" stamped on the collar. Original bag.
This rod is an uncatalogued size, however, I have found it so useful that I keep two of them in my personal fishing inventory. It has excellent accuracy with small flies and is at it's best with large dries and even streamers.
