A superb Charlton 8550C fly reel with the super scarce Spey spool! Right hand retrieve. 4 1/2" diameter with a 1.2" spool width and a weight of 12.3 ounces. It is designed to hold the equivalent of DT11F and 230 yards of 30# backing. Serial #8550-9782. Near mint condition. The spool and frame are completely unblemished, I could find only some faint mounting marks on the foot and a tiny bit of residue on the spool to suggest that it has ever held a line or been mounted on a rod. I doubt that it may have never been fished, or, if so, only a time or two. Very clean. Perfect mechanically. Type III black anodized throughout save for the silver medallion, counterbalance and facing on the crank spindle. Considered by Jack Charlton himself as his best work, the Charlton 8550C is known by anglers and collectors around the world for its machining quality.
