An EC Powell fly rod, 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5 line. 4.1 ounces. Patent date inked on the butt just above the grip. Medium full flexing action, and a likely B taper. Excellent refinished condition. The ferrule fits are good. The butt is nice and straight and one tip has a very light set while the other is a more substantial right-handed sweep and could use some straightening. Light wheatstraw colored cane done in a two opposed node pattern construction. Brownish tan wraps throughout, including intermediates, with yellow and black tipping at the keeper only. The agate stripping guide is intact on the rod, however the agate ring is loose and should be re-soldered to the guide. The butt female wrap has a cosmetic casting crack (common in many rods, and cosmetic only, due to the repeated flexing of the rod). Chrome guides. Typical Powell-style reel seat with a particularly narrow profile just before the uppermost flare. Some modest hand soiling from use. Bakelite reel seat with an aluminum uplocking screw lock with the Powell stamp. Packs into a dark olive bag and the original aluminum tube with brass fittings, and a slight remnant of the original Powell sticker on it.
