For sale here is a very rare and special vintage Fenwick -- Model 315-4 -- 7' 3 1/2 oz. fiberglass fly rod. This rod is from the earliest days of Fenwick (1955-1962). This one is an early model denoted by its mylar under wraps. The rod is in excellent+ original condition. Translucent honey-colored glass blank. The wraps are a chestnut color with a silver mylar under wraps. The winding check features a double spiral pattern in the same thread color. Bright guides. Gold anodized aluminum ferrules with rubber o-rings for a secure fit. All ferrules fit together perfectly as the rubber o-rings remain in excellent condition. All script on the rod remains clean and bold. There is a slight crack in the left wing of the Fenwick "Eagle" decal. U-shaped hook-keeper. Bronze anodized aluminum winding check. Full-wells grip with moderate soiling. The cork is void of any dents, hook gouges, etc... Bronze and gold anodized aluminum down-locking reel seat. There is minor wear to the rim of the butt cap as well as a bit of sticker residue on the spacer likely from an original price tag. The rod weighs 3.50 oz. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast. A terrific 4-5wt for your local trout stream. The 4 pc. construction makes this rod easily transportable for hiking or traveling. Includes original bag with label and original tube. This rod gives an interesting look at the style and fly-fishing technology of the past, as it was the pinnacle of technological advancement in its day.
