For sale here is a Jim Frank 7'6" 2/2 6wt bamboo fly rod. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length and straight except for a very slight set in one tip. Jim worked under the tutelage of Ted Simroe in the Leonard shop during the 70's. His lifetime rod output was at least 200 according to George Black in "Casting a Spell". For a short time he owned Eustis Edwards' beveler. Later he teamed up with Dave Decker and Hal Bacon on a venture to revitalize the "Kosmic" rod.
This rod features a honey toned blank with matching wraps. Gold and red tipping. The varnish has a handsome matte-like finish. Bronzed guides. Ceramic stripping guide. Mildly swelled butt. The script remains clean and bold. Payne-style grip 5 7/8" in length with only the lightest of soiling. Bright aluminum up-locking reel seat with a butternut spacer. The step-down ferrules are size 13/64 with a good tight fit. The rod weighs 4.45 oz. The action is medium-fast. The rod balances wonderfully in the hand. The rod is marked for a 6wt though I feel a DT5 also casts nicely with this rod. Not sure if the bag and tube are original or not.
