For sale here is a very special Everett Garrison Model 212 -- 8' 2/2 4-5wt bamboo rod. Serial O-8-17, made in 1946 for Charles Wilson, Garrison's attorney. The rod was purchased by Paul Schmookler from Garrison in 1975. The rod was then restored by Garrison and has not been fished since.
The rod is in excellent+ restored condition. All sections are full length and straight. Transparent wraps. Chestnut colored wraps at the ferrules and winding check. Classic Garrison hook-keeper. The original grip was retained though it is shows some slight ridging, as does the cork reel seat. The nickel silver cap and ring reel seat remains in excellent condition with only very light wear around the rim of the butt cap. I learned from Hoagy Carmichael that Garrison made this style sliding band for a six to eight year time period. The ferrules are size 13/64 with an excellent fit. Includes a replacement ferrule plug provided by Hoagy and made originally by Garrison. The rod weighs 3.75 oz. Original bag and tube.
A provenance letter by Paul Schmookler is included with the sale. Also included are copies of email correspondence between the current owner and Hoagy Carmichael.
Don't let this one get away! Garrison rods are very scarce with his lifetime production believed to be less than 700 rods and far fewer than that known to exist today.
Please note: Paypal is not accepted for international sales. Please use a credit card or choose "Direct Bank Transfer" if you purchase the rod online.
